Christmas party

Last Saturday Jaela, Alexa, Liz and I organized a cookie-baking/Nativity Story watching party. We made and decorated sugar cookies, which was a lot of fun since I've been missing making cookies with my family. Then everyone assembled in the fireside lounge (which is a big room in the basement of Gillette with lots of comfy couches and a fireplace) and we watched The Nativity Story, which is a great movie. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It makes the Christmas story so real.

Doing fun things like this makes me sad that I'll be leaving Houghton tomorrow. I don't feel ready for the semester to be over! Well, I'm glad that I'll be done with classes and the school aspect, but I'm not ready to leave campus and my friends, especially the ones I won't see for a long time because I'll be in London next semester. This time, going home is going to be bittersweet.

  1. Hello Tabitha,

You look just like your mother, which I guess makes sense. I guess it is belated but congratulations on winning the scholarship from the seeing eye dog people. I hope you have a good semester in London. Say "hello" to the queen for me.

I see that you are majoring in writing. I guess you're not interested in nursing like your dad. Perhaps you should give nursing a try. Remember, nurses are very noble people. Nurses don't take no bull!

Well, in any event, have a merry Christmas and happy New Year.

  2. I can see how you would miss friends at college; it's like having a home-away-from-home!

Oh, and good luck with your trip to London next semester, that's sounds very fun. Merry Christmas....

(I enjoyed the Nativity movie also, it's very moving!)

  4. Secret Admirer:

Thank you for the congratulations and well wishes. I'm really looking forward to Houghton's First-Year Honors Program in London, although it will definitely be very intense. If I meet the queen I'll have to say "my secret admirer says hello," which will be a little hard to explain . . .

No, I'm not interested in nursing; I'm too easily disturbed by blood, sickness, etc. My sister plans to go to school for nursing, though.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!

  5. Hannah: Yes, Houghton is like a second home . . . it was very hard to leave!

Hannah and Ellis: Thanks; I'll certainly be keeping people posted on what's going on in London. Merry Christmas to you both!
